#FriFotos – Waterfalls: Azib Tamsoulte, Morocco
This week’s #Frifotos theme is waterfalls. This waterfall has a strong memory for me. Yes, it was a beautiful waterfall to see on our trek across the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, but for me it was the turning point for me after suffering food poisoning the day before our trek began. It was worth it.
While the four day trek was challenging on its own, the day before the trek was to begin I accidentally ate some maggots with my olives. You can read that story here…
For the trek, I was suffering from explosive diaorhea, stomach cramps, vomiting, dehydration & sheer exhaustion. So when our guide suggested an extra hour hike up to the Azib Tamsoulte waterfall, the group saw the state I was in after vomiting all morning along the trek & decided to finish the trek early, skipping the waterfall.
I took a strong stance, with the motto “You are only here once”, I convince the group I am good to make the extra effort to see the waterfall.
That hour was the most fun I had along the whole trek. The sheer determination to make it to the waterfall, Justin falling in the river after slipping on a rock, following random white dots as a route marker across nothing but loose rocks from the above mountains. By the time I made the Azib Tamsoulte waterfall, I was feeling 100% better, full of energy and ready to bounce through the remainder of the trek. Just give some Moroccan mint tea and I’ll be bouncing of the mountainside.
