The One When We Went To Sweden For Beer

Scandinavia is an expensive place to travel, especially for alcohol. But it can be cheaper. All it takes is a little local knowledge. On one of my trips to Norway we did as Norwegians do… Drive to another country to buy alcohol. It is cheaper to drive over to Sweden and back than it is to buy alcohol in Norway.

The One When We Went To Sweden For Beer

Sunday Reading – The Miami Chronicles

It’s been a month since I left the sunshine, the beaches and the many beautiful people behind in Miami. With so many good memories and plenty to write about, here are the posts from my week in Miami.

#FriFotos – EarthDay: Living off the land

#FriFotos – Clouds: Wild Bushfires in Bosnia

Bosnia brushfire sun

We are travelling through Bosnia/Herzegovina on #thebigtrip and have fallen in love with the country. However, Bosnia/Herzegovina is currently experiencing some of the worst bushfires in its history with nobody fighting them, they just simply don't have the resources to stop the fires.

The Big Trip – Stari Most (Old Bridge)

The Stari Most (old bridge) in Mostar, Bosnia/Herzegovina

The Stari Most (old bridge) in Mostar, Bosnia/Herzgovina stood for 427 years before it was destroyed in 1993 during the Yugoslav wars. The bridges was rebuilt by pulling the fallen stone out of the river and using traditional Ottoman techniques. This bridge is a beautiful structure that must be seen.

#beachthursday – Dubrovnik Old Town

Dubrovnik Old Town cliff top bar

It's #beachthursday & I am on the road with #thebigtrip, coming to you from Dubrovnik, Croatia. When most people travel to this part of the world, chances are they are on a boat. That makes it easy to jump into the beautiful water, but others have found places to get wet as well, like this cliff top beach.

The Big Trip – The Journey Ahead

The Big Trip - The Balkan leg

After months of planning, Katie & I have decided on the route to take for The Big Trip. Good timing too! The trip begins in just a few days. The rules for this trip were very simple… There must be sunshine & we can only go in the one direction, no looking back. So with the rules set, here is the route.

Crossroads – My Time In London Draws To An End

Big Ben

April 20th, 2009 I packed my backpack & begun my new life living in London. Fast forward to today & what we have here are the closing paragraphs of a big chapter of my life. My days left in London can be counted on fingers. How do I feel? I don't know. Everything is so busy I haven't had the chance to blink.

#FriFotos – Treats: Macaroons in Montmarte

Resistance is futile in Paris when macaroons are on the menu

This week's #FriFotos theme is treats. The moment we saw this store, we knew we weren't leaving empty handed. The amount of award winning macaroons on display was drool worthy. They were so good in fact, that we went back a second time to Biscuiterie de Montmarte for more treats.

#BeachThursday – Dromana Beach

This week's #beachthursday comes from the Victorian town of Dromana. Located on Port Phillip Bay, 90 minutes south from Melbourne, Dromana sits at the foot of Arthur's Seat, which offers panoramic views of Mornington Peninsula. Dromana is a perfect place to rest after a big day at the beach.

#FriFotos – The Best… Is Yet To Come

The map on my bedroom wall

This week's #FriFotos theme is: The Best. I left Australia over three years ago to explore the world. Living in London has been an amazing experience & allowed me to travel to many beautiful places. But with this map on my wall, every morning I open my eyes, I am reminded that the best is yet to come.

#beachthursday – Allans Beach

Allans Beach, Cape Saunders, New Zealand

It's #beachthursday time again & this week my photo comes from the Otago Peninsula in New Zealand. Allan's Beach is a well hidden beach on the eastern coast facing out onto the vast Pacific Ocean & with the icy winds blowing, a wet-suit is a must. This is a beautiful beach that feels like your own.
